Login

An important feature is the ability to login to the site to edit content.  This is normally through a link at the bottom of the page although other mechanisms can be provided.  Different privilege levels can be given to users.  These are

• Internal view - can view private pages but no edit in any way
• Internal edit - can edit content on private but not public pages
• Internal edit and add pages - can edit and add private pages to site
• External edit - can edit both private and public pages
• External edit & add - can edit and add both private and public pages (can make private pages public)
• Manage site - can do all the above plus manage user accounts for site

Top Menu

 Many different navigation options are available.  One of the most sophisticated includes drop down menus so the full structure of the site can quickly be discovered and users can navigate directly to pages 'buried' in the hierarchy.  The menu bar shown is horizontal with coloured buttons.  This is part of the site template and can be set up with any colour for different button states.  It is also possible to have background images on the buttons.  The menu can also be configured vertically in a column at the side.

Navigation Bar

This bar automatically shows the position of the page in the hierarchy and allows back navigation to the top level

Side Bar

The Home page for this demonstration site has been configured with an optional side bar with some automatic features.

News Headlines

The news headlines are drawn from the News page.  News items are added to the News page and the top three automatically appear here.  Alternative configurations include a scrolling Headline at the top of the Home page or a fuller extract from one or more news items displayed on the main part of the Home page.

Diary Dates

The next three diary events are extracted from the diary or calendar and displayed here.

Picture display

The scrolling pictures are drawn from one of the picture pages in the site.  Changing the pictures on that page will change those scrolling on the Home page.  Alternative configurations include a fading slide show.

Last Changed

This option can be added to the template to show when the page was last edited.
